The way I see it is choosing a real estate agent is a lot about relationship. So, put yourself in the position of your ideal client. Buying or selling a home is a huge process. It is life changing. It is the biggest purchase you will ever make. It is a big decision. You are not going to entrust this life changing event to just anyone. I mean, you will be spending months working with your real estate agent. So, you better choose someone you trust and have a relationship with.
If you don’t know anyone personally, or have a referral, where will you turn – to the internet. And would you rather find an agent with a brochure website and a bunch of listings or an agent with a website, a blog, a Facebook fan page, and a Twitter profile. Which agent is offering a better chance to build a relationship? Which agent gives you the chance to get to know him or her?
The point is social media gives you, as a real estate agent, the opportunity to build a relationship. It gives you the tools. Every time you post to your blog, or update a status you are touching base with your community – you are following up and keeping yourself in front of them. You are providing multiple ways for people to get to know you and your business.
Being in real estate means your business relies on relationships. And social media is a tool to create and build relationships. The two go hand in hand. So what is stopping you?
